OUR STORY

The history of Amrut Distilleries is as old as the history of independent India itself. After seven & half decades of notable progress, just like India, Amrut Distilleries has grown both in stature and size and is now noted as a global economic leader.

Amrut Distilleries Private Limited began in 1948 under the name and style of Amrut Laboratories, with an initial investment of barely a few lakhs. The founder was the late Shri J.N. Radhakrishna, J.N.R as he is fondly called to this day.

AMrut

OUR HISTORY

Under the leadership of the founder, Amrut Distilleries made rapid strides to entrench itself as a significant and preferred supplier of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) in the Defense Market. In its state of origin, Karnataka, too, Amrut Distilleries grew to be one of the dominant suppliers, especially in the old Mysore area.

Global Recognition

Our Presence

Amrut has gained a strong presence in the global whisky market and is exported to many countries. It has made a significant impact on the perception of Indian whisky and is considered a pioneer in the field of Indian single malt whisky.

Our Process

Meticulously developed with clarity and integrity, we find satisfaction in each phase of the production process.

Preparation

Whisky is typically made from grains, and the choice of grains influences the flavor profile of the final product

Mashing

The milled grains are mixed with hot water and this allows the enzymes in the grains to break down starches into fermentable sugars.

Fermentation

Yeast is added to the mash to initiate fermentation and it consumes the sugars in the mash and produces alcohol and carbon dioxide.

Distillation

The distillation process separates the alcohol from the wash, producing a higher-proof liquid known as new make spirit

Maturation

The aging process allows the whisky to interact with the wood, gaining flavor, color, and complexity.

Bottling

The final product is then bottled at the desired alcohol content, and in some cases, multiple casks may be blended to achieve the desired flavor profile.

OUR MASTER CRAFTSMAN

Shri Neelakanta Rao Jagdale After the untimely demise of J.N.R in 1976, the mantle devolved to his son, Shri Neelakanta Rao Jagdale, the Chairman and Managing Director. Building on the solid foundations laid by his late father, his stewardship has seen Amrut Distilleries blossom into a multi-national brand respected as much for the superlative quality of its products as for his campaign for transparent practices by the IMFL industry.
